  • Kate T

Kate has been an avid practitioner of yoga since her 20s, when a scoliosis diagnosis left her with two choices: exercise or surgery. She chose exercise, and began working to improve her strength and skeletal alignment. In addition to weightlifting and Pilates, she practiced yoga based on the teachings of BKS Iyengar and has been moving to better alignment ever since.

Kate completed the 200hr Healing Immersion Yoga Teacher Training at Family Tree Yoga & Wellness, 35hr Yin Yoga Teacher Training at Integral Yoga Institute in NYC and 155hr Polarity Therapy Training at the Yoga Polarity Center in Malverne, NY.  What began as a quest for knowledge became a spiritual and emotional journey, and she fell in love with yoga philosophy and the mind-body-spirit connection.

She believes in teaching how to build a solid foundation first - to become self-aware of how your life has affected your physical structure - and to apply yoga to prevent injuries, increase flexibility and stamina, and to invite wholeness and wellness through the joy of movement. In spite of - or perhaps because of - her alignment lineage, she believes that how a pose looks on the outside is irrelevant. What matter most is how the pose makes you feel on the inside.

  • Karen C
I was first introduced to yoga almost 50 years ago. Since then it has been a constant in my life. I have recently retired from teaching, and in 2012 I received my yoga 200 HR Certification through the Darshana Yoga Center, under the guidance of some very influential teachers including Regina Chaell, Debra Jensen, and Jeff Logan, allowing me to combine my two passions: yoga and teaching. Through Yoga I strive to achieve physical well-being, emotional balance and spiritual growth. I work to bring these elements to my class in a welcoming and comfortable environment, creating a sukha (good space) for one’s personalized practice. My classes are designed for beginners or for those who require a gentle practice for healing or recovery.
